Hand-carved wooden statue of Blodeuwedd, one of the most fascinating female figures in Welsh Celtic mythology. Her name is commonly interpreted as “Flower-Faced”, reflecting her extraordinary origin: according to the fourth branch of the Mabinogi, she was magically created from flowers by Math and Gwydion to become the wife of Lleu Llaw Gyffes.

Blodeuwedd was created from the flowers of oak, broom and meadowsweet, giving her a unique connection with flowers, nature and the mysterious forces of transformation. Her story later took a darker turn when she and Gronw Pebr plotted against Lleu. As punishment, Gwydion transformed her into an owl, forever connecting Blodeuwedd with this powerful nocturnal symbol.

Today, Blodeuwedd is often interpreted as a symbol of transformation, feminine independence, beauty, choice and rebirth. Her story of changing from a flower-born woman into an owl gives her a particularly mysterious place in modern Celtic and pagan traditions.
